SPECIAL SESSION

City Hall – 82877 Spruce Street 97493  

   

1.  Call to Order and Roll Call  

Mayor Eric Hauptman called the Meeting of the Dunes City Council to order at 6:00 p.m.   Amy Graham, Dunes City Recorder, took roll call.

 

Present:          Mayor Eric Hauptman, Councilor Susie Navetta, Councilor Robert Quandt, Councilor Richard Koehler, Councilor Peter Howison, Councilor Jerry Curran, and Councilor Bob Petersdorf.   

Others Present:  City Recorder Amy Graham, Planning Secretary Lisa Ekelund, and 40 members of the community. 

 2.  Pledge of Allegiance  

The Mayor, city councilors, office staff, and citizens present joined in the Pledge of Allegiance.  

3.  New Business  

A.     Fourth City Council position tie break procedure between Richard Koehler and Fred Hilden.  

Councilor Koehler requested to recuse himself from the drawing.  Councilor Navetta said she believed Councilor Koehler should not need to step down.  

Councilor Petersdorf stated the Charter states the council decides the procedure.  

The Mayor asked for all those in favor for draw by lot using ping pong balls should signify by stating aye.  After unanimous vote, it was decided to proceed using ping pong balls.  

City Recorder Amy Graham handed Mr. Hilden, and Mr. Koehler a new, sealed, package of ping pong balls.  Each gentleman wrote their name on their individual 6 ping pong balls.  The ping pong balls were placed in a bag and each member of the Council drew a ball.  

Councilor Navetta drew a ball with Mr. Hilden's name on it.

Councilor Quandt drew a ball with Mr. Koehler's name on it.

Councilor Howison drew a ball with Mr. Hilden's name on it.

Councilor Curran drew a ball with Mr. Koehler's name on it.

Councilor Petersdorf drew a name with Mr. Koehler's name on it.

 

It was announced the tie was broken and Mr. Koehler won the fourth seat of the City Council.

 

4.  Adjournment

 

At 6:11 p.m. Mayor Hauptman adjourned the meeting.
