DUNES CITY ROAD COMMISSION

1.     Call to Order

 

The Road Commission meeting was called to order by Road Chairman, Troy Sathe at 6:42 pm .

 

2.     Roll Call

 

Roll Call was taken by Road Secretary , Selena Carter.

 

Present:    Road Chairman Troy Sathe, Commissioner Henry Leach, Commissioner Jerry Curran, Commissioner Mike Smith, Commissioner Duke Wells and Commissioner Jo Owen.

 

Absent:      None

 

Others Present:    Selena Carter, Road Secretary , Mr. Bill Sathe, Mr. Ron Tucker, Mr. Tom Bassett and Mr. Rich Bailey.

 

3.     Pledge of Allegiance

 

All who were present stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

4.     Approval of the Agenda

 

Commissioner Smith made the motion to approve the Agenda as presented.  Commissioner Curran seconded the motion.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

5.     Approval of the 11/15/2010 meeting minutes

 

Commissioner Smith made the motion to accept the minutes of 11/15/2010 as amended.  Commissioner Wells seconded the motion.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

6.     Announcements / Correspondence

 

Chairman Sathe announced the following:

 

  • Response letter from Tonapah Trust.
  • Approval of Ordinance #208 as amended effective 30 days after 12/9/2010 .
  • Update about fence on Foothill Drive .
  • Purchased Trail Camera.

 

7.     Citizen Input

 

There was no citizen input.

 

8.     Unfinished / Old Business

 

·        Update by Commissioner Smith regarding his search for a trailer.

(Nothing to report.)

 

·        Update by Commissioner Curran and Ron Tucker regarding street ownership.

(Nothing to report.)

 

·        Discussion of the dead cedar trees located on Buckskin Bob Road . 

 

Commissioner Wells reported on a couple of bids from two contractors.  The first one was from Charlie Johnson Tree Service CCB#176013 which was a verbal bid of $4,500.  The second was from Tree Works CCB#191102 which was a written bid of $3,450 for the removal of 12 infected and dead cedar trees. 

 

Commissioner Smith made the motion to recommend that the downing of the cedar trees on Buckskin Bob be awarded to Tree Works on the basis of his written bid.  Commissioner Curran seconded the motion.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

·        Review Master Road Plan.

 

Chairman Sathe stated this item will be discussed during the January Road Commission meeting.

 

·        Discussion on Street vacation on Buckskin Bob .

 

Chairman Sathe stated this item will be brought forward to City Council in January 2011.

 

9.     New Business

  • Leaning tree off Lakeshore Drive .

 

Chairman Sathe stated he went to look at the leaning tree and didn’t see an issue.

 

  • Placement of Slow Children Playing sign on Hilltop Drive .

 

Chairman Sathe stated that he invited the citizen who complained about the placement of the sign to this evenings Road Commission meeting.  They were not present.

 

 

 

10.             Unscheduled Items Not Listed on the Agenda

 

Chairman Sathe read the letter that was prepared by Selena Carter and addressed to Fishmill Lodges.

 

Commissioner Curran made the motion to send the letter to Fishmill Lodges. Commissioner Smith seconded the motion. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

Commissioner Smith stated there is a split fence that appears to be in the road right-of-way. 

 

Commissioner Owen made the motion to send a letter to the property owner(s) of 83897 Cloud Nine Road .  It has come to the Road Commission s attention that part of the fence appears to be in the Dunes City right-of-way.  Please provide documentation that shows the fence is on your property.  Commissioner Smith seconded the motion.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

Commissioner Smith stated that there is a driveway on Cloud Nine Road that has a flow of gravel coming onto the City’s street.

 

Commissioner Owen made the motion to send a letter to the property owner(s) of 83940 Cloud Nine Road .  It has come to Road Commission s attention some of the gravel is coming onto the city street and this could be a hazard.  We would appreciate your help in addressing this issue.  Commissioner Curran seconded the motion.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

Commissioner Leach stated there is a handmade children slow sign on Woahink Drive that is attached to a pedestal.  The sign is in the road right-of-way and should be removed.

 

Commissioner Smith made the motion to have Chairman Sathe inquire with Willy Teel as to whether he placed the sign on Woahink Drive .  Upon discovering who placed the sign, we move to send them a letter informing that their sign is in the public right-of-way without permit and to please remove the sign.  You are invited to come to the next regular scheduled Road Commission meeting in January if you would like to make a case for an actual traffic sign to be placed on Woahink Drive .  Commissioner Leach seconded the motion.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.   

 

Commissioner Wells stated his biggest hesitation for running for Dunes City Council was that he knew he couldn’t be on the Road Commission any longer and he really enjoyed being on it.  He is looking forward to moving onto City Council but will miss the Road Commission .

 

Commissioner Smith thanked everyone for putting up with his lengthy flowery language and the need to talk for hours on end and he appreciates everyone for listening. He looks forward to returning next year and to continue at getting things done around here.  He would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

 

Commissioner Leach stated he is looking forward to coming back next year and wishes everyone a Happy Holiday.

 

Commissioner Curran stated he would like to thank everyone for their contributions this year.

 

Chairman Sathe stated he appreciates all the hard work Commissioner Owen has done and will miss her deeply, and is happy to be working with Commissioner Wells on City Council.

 

Commissioner Owen thanked everyone for putting up with her and she enjoyed working with everyone.

 

11.            Adjournment

 

There being no further business to come before the Road Commission , Commissioner Owen made the motion to adjourn the meeting.  Commissioner Wells seconded the motion.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

The meeting of the Dunes City Road Commission adjourned at 8:02 pm .

 

The proceedings of the Dunes City Road Commission meeting were recorded on tape, and are on file at City Hall.  Upon approval by the Road Commission , these minutes will be available online at www.dunescity.com
